Destination Elopement in Cancun Mexico | Danica Oliva Toronto Photographer

Couples

When you go to Mexico, you bring your two beautiful friends who are engaged and take their photo! There are so many adventures and places that are beyond Canada that are beautiful to create in. After not crossing borders for over 2 years we were hesitant to go. Travelling is so stressful and wanting to be safe, keep everyone else safe, and to be sure we’re doing the right thing was always a concern. But once everything was planned, PCR tests in place, and a covid responsible resort, we took off! I was sure to not have any sessions/weddings planned in the near future and that we were able to get rapid tests just in case. And I have no regrets, happy to answer any questions if you want to email me about planning your upcoming trips. It feels good to be back on Canadian soil but I cannot tell you what Mexico did for my mental health. To feel totally relaxed, with a drink in hand, and nothing to worry about except what we were going to eat for our next meal was beyond a rewarding experience.

Anxiety is something I struggled with a lot last year. I made it my top priority this wedding-off-season to get a handle on it, find things that work for me, and start getting into better routines. It wasn’t until this trip until I felt truly at ease with where I was mentally. Especially in these times of covid I think it’s important we all stick together and share our struggles AND our wins. Needless to say this trip meant so much more than to just get away. I hope you’re finding the joy in every day. And hang in there! Unfortunately we will have to live with the fact that covid won’t be going away, but to find the things that make it a little more bearable.
