There’s something truly special about returning to my hometown area for weddings—it’s a place full of familiarity, nostalgia, and heart. Lately, more and more couples are choosing backyard weddings and embracing DIY details that make the day uniquely theirs. These are the weddings that feel intimate, personal, and incredibly rewarding to photograph.

Kristina and Zach wanted a sentimental celebration right in their backyard, and their day was nothing short of amazing. From heartfelt vows to shared laughter, the atmosphere was full of love… and then came the downpour right during the ceremony. While some might see rain as a challenge, this unexpected moment only added to the magic. Seeing everyone laugh, dance, and celebrate in the rain created one of my favourite memories of the season.
