In the midst of lockdowns, distancing, and the stillness that swept across Toronto during COVID, love found a way—quietly, beautifully, and on the edge of Lake Ontario.
Jaclyn and Kyle’s story isn’t one of grand gestures in crowded places. It’s one of intentionality, of quiet planning behind masks and closed doors, and of finding magic in the simple—on a cool, windswept afternoon along the Toronto waterfront.
At the time, the city was still hushed. The boardwalk that would normally hum with joggers, dog walkers, and tourists was nearly empty, just the gentle sounds of water and the muffled hush of waves brushing the rocks. It was here, in this peaceful pause from the world, that Kyle decided to ask Jaclyn the question that would change their lives.
Jaclyn’s surprised gasp turned into joyful tears. The only people around to witness it were the birds overhead and the soft sway of the lake. But somehow, it felt like the whole world was watching and cheering.
There was no big party after, no crowd to celebrate with in person—but they didn’t need that. The moment was theirs. Sacred, still, and full of emotion. And maybe that’s what made it so special.
COVID changed so many of our plans—but for Jaclyn and Kyle, it reminded them of what really matters. Love in its truest form. Uncomplicated, deeply felt, and right on time.
To this day, every time I walk that path on the waterfront, I think of them. Of a secret proposal that brought light in a time of uncertainty. And of a moment that couldn’t have been more perfect.
