If there’s one thing I love about a wedding venue, it’s when it has a personality of its own. Somewhere that doesn’t need an elaborate transformation to feel special, where the architecture, atmosphere, and little details already tell a story before the wedding day even begins.

Enter Hotel Ocho.

Tucked away in the heart of downtown Toronto at Queen and Spadina, Hotel Ocho is one of those spaces that feels effortlessly cool. With its historic architecture, exposed brick, beautiful natural light, and industrial-inspired details, it offers a refreshing alternative to the traditional ballroom wedding.

As a Toronto Wedding Photographer, I’m always looking at a wedding venue through two lenses: how it feels to experience the day and how beautifully it photographs. And Hotel Ocho checks so many boxes.

Whether you’re planning an intimate wedding with your favourite people, a relaxed city celebration, or a full evening of dinner, drinks, and dancing, there’s something about this venue that makes the entire experience feel personal.

Here are my top five reasons why Hotel Ocho deserves a spot on your Toronto wedding venue shortlist!

1. The Character, Charm & Architecture Are Everything

Let’s start with the obvious: this building is beautiful.

Originally built in 1902, Hotel Ocho has a history and architectural character that you simply can’t recreate with decor. Its industrial-meets-modern aesthetic brings together exposed brick, wooden beams, large windows, and warm architectural details that give the entire space so much personality.

I love venues that have a little bit of texture and history. They create photographs that feel timeless without being overly traditional.

The exposed brick adds warmth, the wood brings in a natural element, and the combination of historic details with modern styling makes the space feel both elevated and relaxed.

One of my favourite things about choosing a venue with this much character is that you don’t have to overthink the styling. You can lean into the space itself, bring in your own personal touches, and let the atmosphere do some of the heavy lifting.

Whether you’re envisioning a minimalist celebration, something romantic and candlelit, or a more playful downtown wedding, Hotel Ocho gives you a beautiful foundation to make the day your own.

And from a Toronto Wedding Photographer’s perspective? All of that texture makes for some pretty incredible photographs.

2. It’s an Incredible Space for Intimate Weddings in Toronto

Not every wedding needs 200 guests, a massive ballroom, or an elaborate production.

Sometimes the best celebrations are the ones where you can actually slow down, spend time with everyone in the room, and enjoy the little moments that make getting married so special.

This is where Hotel Ocho really shines.

If you’re searching for an Intimate Wedding Venue in Toronto, Hotel Ocho offers a wonderful alternative to traditional wedding spaces. Its event areas can accommodate different celebration styles, from smaller gatherings to larger receptions, with event configurations for groups ranging from approximately 25 to 200 guests.

I love the idea of couples choosing a space that feels proportionate to their celebration. A room that feels full of energy, conversation, and connection rather than one that feels like it’s waiting to be filled.

For photography, intimate weddings also offer something incredibly special.
